FEE
AND FUNDING INFORMATION
FOR FULL TIME COURSES
FEES
UK
and EU Students
UK and EU students are fees funded but are required to pay the student
fee contribution of £3070, either as a one off payment or by
three termly instalments, due on the first day of each term. UK students
may be eligible for support in paying this fee following a financial
assessment undertaken by the LEA. They may also be eligible to add
this fee element to their student loan which is then repayable at
the end of the course. EU students need to contact the European team
to verify their eligibility to apply for support.
Oversea
Private Payers
Non-EU international students are required to pay the full costs of
tuition which for 2007/8 is set at £12,990 per year and we expect
this fee will rise in line with inflation in subsequent years.
The first and last terms fee payment is required prior to the
first day of the term. The balance is due by the first day of each
subsequent term.
Living
Expenses
Living costs are estimated to be a minimum of £9000 per year
for students relocating to live in London. UK undergraduate students
are eligible to apply through their LEA for a student loan to support
living expenses and, following financial assessment, may be eligible
to receive additional funding through the
Higher Education Maintenance Grant.
Funding
Additional Scholarships and Grants through RADA and the Conservatoire
Throughout its history RADA has sought to provide financial support
for students in genuine need through its Endowment Fund. In more recent
years, RADA has also assisted students in running their own fundraising
campaigns, in addition to raising additional scholarship/bursary funding
on an annual basis from Charitable Trusts, Foundations and philanthropic
individuals whose support ensures that RADA can maintain its broad
student selection policy and that its students can complete their
training. Awards to RADA students are made following
an internal financial assessment to ensure that resources are channelled
to those most in need. Full details of the application process are
provided to students once they have been offered a
place at the Academy. As an affiliate of the Conservatoire, RADA also
has funds available through the Access To Learning Fund which provides
small (non-repayable) awards to students who experience difficulties
through the academic year. This is administered through the Academy.
From
2006/7 the Conservatoire has funds available to offer bursaries to
UK students of the affiliate organisations. These will be linked to
the Higher Education Grant Assessment undertaken by the LEA. A small
amount of additional funding will also be available to support EU
students and those with a first degree who are experiencing hardship
during the academic year. Full details of the application process
is provided in the CDD brochure which LINK accompanies this Prospectus
or at www.cdd.ac.uk.

Advice
to Applicants
Accommodation
The Academy has no accommodation of its own, but we offer support
and information to students in order to assist in finding suitable
accommodation.
Part
Time Work
Part time casual work during term time may only be undertaken on the
understanding that it does
not interfere with any course commitments. Students on the Acting
Course are not permitted to accept professional acting work for the
duration of the course.
Language
Fluency
Overseas candidates must have a complete fluency in the English language
before they can be
considered.
Work
Restrictions
Achievement of an Academy Degree/Diploma/Certificate does not carry
with it the right to enter the theatrical profession in Great Britain.
Overseas students should note that they are subject to the standard
United Kingdom immigration regulations.
Health
All courses require a high level of energy and commitment and students
need to be able to demonstrate their ability to complete what are
considered to be the core elements of the course. In the rare cases
where they are unable to do so, students may be asked to intermit
in order to regain fitness and medical criteria required before the
student returns to the Academy. Students accepted on the Acting course
may be required to have an examination in order to provide an osteopathic
profile. If necessary, this appointment will be arranged by the Academy.
All students are required to complete a detailed medical history questionnaire
prior to enrolment.
Deposits
Before
beginning a course a student must pay £50 library membership
fee and caution money against loss or damage to Academy property.
This sum is returned, less any deductions on leaving.
Lost
Property
The
Academy authorities do not hold themselves responsible for property
of any kind belonging to students, which may be lost on the premises.
