Rehearsed Reading:
Today I Live by Susan-Jane Harrison
Political artist Niaz Sadaat is determined to change her life.
Following detention in Iran, she is unable to connect with those she loves. Believing that healing can occur through creation of personal art, she isolates herself in a flat in Southwark, soon discovering that she shares it with an inhabitant. Michael, an Irish mapmaker living in the year 1820, finds her intrusion into his life disturbing, to say the least. After much conniving, Niaz finally convinces Michael to pose for her. The experience is fully consummate, when he in turns uses Niaz as his parchment, on which to sketch the path of his life. This odd experience of connection with a most unlikely subject, creates a ripple effect of change across each of their lives, transforming their most important relationships, for the better.
