FEE AND FUNDING INFORMATION
FOR FULL TIME COURSES

FEES

UK and EU Students
UK and EU students are required to pay a tuition fee which is set by the government. The fee for 2007/08 is £3,070 per annum (pro-rata for four term courses) and we expect this fee to rise in line with inflation for 2008/09 You can pay your fee either in a one-off payment or by three termly instalments, due before the first day of each term. UK students may be eligible for support in paying their fees following a financial assessment undertaken by the LEA. They may also be eligible to add this fee element to their student loan which is then repayable at the end of the course. EU students need to contact the EU Customer Service Team on (+44) (0) 141 243 3570 or EU_Team@slc.co.uk to verify their eligibility to apply for support to pay their fees.

International Students
Non-EU students are required to pay the full cost of tuition. In 2007/8 the fee is £12,990 per annum (pro-rata for four term courses) and we expect this fee to rise in line with inflation for 2008/09. The first and last term’s fee payment is required prior to the first day of the term. The balance is due by the first day of each subsequent term..

Living Expenses
Living costs are estimated to be a minimum of £9000 per year for students relocating to live in London. UK undergraduate students are eligible to apply through their LEA for a student loan to support living expenses and, following financial assessment, may be eligible to receive additional funding through the
Higher Education Maintenance Grant.

Funding
The Conservatoire for Dance and Drama has funds available to offer bursaries to UK students of affiliate organisations. These are linked to the Higher Education Grant Assessment undertaken by the LEA. A small amount of additional funding is also available to support EU students and those with a first degree who are experiencing hardship during the academic year. Further information can be found in the CDD Funding Guidance leaflet at www.cdd.ac.uk.

The Academy also seeks to raise additional scholarship/bursary funding from Charitable Trusts, Foundations and philanthropic individuals, whose support ensures that we can maintain our broad student selection policy and that our students can complete their training.

Advice to Applicants

Accommodation
The Academy has no accommodation of its own, but we offer support and information to students in order to assist in finding suitable accommodation.

Part Time Work
Part time casual work during term time may only be undertaken on the understanding that it does not interfere with any course commitments. Students on the Acting Course are not permitted to accept professional
acting work for the duration of the course.

Work Restrictions
Achievement of an Academy Degree/Diploma/Certificate does not carry with it the right to enter the theatrical profession in Great Britain. Overseas students should note that they are subject to the Standard United Kingdom immigration regulations.

Health
All courses require a high level of energy and commitment and students need to be able to demonstrate their ability to complete what are considered to be the core elements of the course. In the rare cases where they are unable to do so, students may be asked to intermit in order to regain fitness and medical criteria required before the student returns to the Academy. Students accepted on the Acting course may be required to have an examination in order to provide an osteopathic profile. If necessary, this appointment will be arranged by the Academy. All students are required to complete a detailed medical history questionnaire prior to enrolment.

Home Student Status
There are strict regulations regarding residency which must be met in order to qualify for Home Student status. All EU students who are offered a place at RADA are required to verify their EU status prior
to the offer of the place being confirmed. Please contact the EU Customer Service Team on
(+44) (0) 141 243 3570 or EU_Team@slc.co.uk.
