NEWTON TO BE MANAGING DIRECTOR
Notes: 1. RADA's mission statement remains: "RADA intends to maintain and strengthen its position within the English speaking world as the foremost centre of excellence in its field. RADA is a vocational training establishment, which equips student actors, actresses, stage managers and technical craft specialists for careers at the highest level in theatre, television, film and radio. RADA will continue to select students solely on the strength of their talent, potential, individuality and suitability to be trained; regardless of gender, religion, disability, ethnic origin or income." 2. RADA's Nominations Committee comprised: Michael Attenborough, Nicholas Gold, Margaret Heffernan, Thelma Holt, Adrian Lester, Alan Rickman, Sir Stephen Waley-Cohen and Richard Wilson (not present at final meetings). Advisers to the Committee were Baroness Genista McIntosh and Veronica Lewis, Joint Principal of the Conservatoire of Dance and Drama, of which RADA is a Founding Affiliate. 3. Jeremy Newton's past appointments include: Louise T. Blouin Foundation, Director 2005 - present National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA), Chief Executive, 1998 - 2005 Arts Council of England, National Lottery Director, 1994 - 1998 Eastern Arts - Deputy Director, Director, Chief Executive. 1980 - 1994 From 1998 - 2005 Jeremy chaired the Board of English Touring Theatre and is currently Chair of Youth Dance England. He
has lectured widely on arts management and financial administration,
serves as an External Examiner for the City University Department of
Arts Policy and Management, and was last year awarded an Honorary Doctorate
for his services to arts and science by Loughborough University.
