RADA YOUTH GROUP 2007/08 Application list closed for 2007

We are currently recruiting young people aged between 16-20, who have a particular enthusiasm for theatre. We are looking for participants who are bright, inspired and highly motivated. Priority for membership is being given to those who live or work in Camden but the group is limited to 20 people, so it's first come, first served. However, we do also run weekly acting workshops for young people on Saturdays for those students who do not get a place on the Youth Group or who are unable to commit to the whole course.

Applicants do not need to have much acting experience nor to they need to have studied Drama or Theatre Studies at school but they must have a desire to learn. The main criteria for students wishing to be considered for a place in the RADA Youth Group are that they demonstrate talent, enthusiasm, commitment and a willingness to work as a group member.

There will be a number of informal, introductory workshops held at the Academy during the weekend of September 22nd/23rd , which will provide participants with a taster of what is on offer and from which the Youth Group will be selected. The completed application form, with a passport size photograph attached, should be accompanied by a letter of recommendation from a teacher and returned to me at the Academy, at the latest, by Monday September 17th. The introductory workshops will take place at RADA, 62-64 Gower Street, WC1, and start at 10am and confirmation of a place on the workshop will be confirmed by Friday 21st September at the latest.

What the Youth Group will do:
· participate in a weekly workshop sessions every Saturday during term time between 10am - 1pm
· Work with Phil Shepherd the Youth Group leader, RADA graduates and guest directors
· Work on acting exercises, voice and improvisation techniques leading into a rehearsal period and public performance in one of the Academy's three in-house theatres
· Occasionally be invited to work as a consultative group of young people on various NT Education projects
· Have the opportunity to attend RADA student productions each term.

The fee for the 34-week academic year (October to July) is £170, which represents £5.00 per week for Camden Residents and £230.00 or £ 7.00 per week for non-Camden residents. Your school may have a fund available to which you can apply to cover this fee, so please check with your drama teacher if such a fund is available. A further discount will be available for participants from families receiving Income Support. This can be applied for once a place has been offered on the Youth group for 2006/7. The fee can be made as a one off payment or paid weekly at the RADA Reception.
